In order to promote higher energy efficiency standards (envelop design, use of superior performance materials and equipment) in the residential sector, AFD and Government Housing Bank (GHB) signed a MoU on September 4th 2008 so that AFD will provide low interest rate loan to GHB to on-lend to home owners and apartment developers to help subsidize the higher upfront cost incurred (5% add. cost for 30% EE gains).
This programs aims at strengthening the MPAs (Marine Protected Area) network in the Andaman Sea, and securing durable conservation, reducing the impacts of Tourism and developing best environmental practices from private operators. It will be financed, on the French part by 2 different sources: a credit loan (AFD) and a grant of 1 million EUR (FFEM) supported with co-donors.
Purposing to promote sustainable marine shrimp farming to preserve the mangroves biodiversity through appropriate agricultural practices, AFD would provide low interest rate loan to a financial partner to on-lend to marine shrimp farmers whereby AFD’s subsidy will help cover the higher cost incurred, with an aim to achieve an eco-certification.
In order to assist the local governments in their financial and technical capacity to develop and manage sustainable waste management projects (including methane emission reduction), AFD would provide technical assistance and low interest rate loan to selected local governments to assist them in financing and implementing their solid waste management projects.
