Agency history
AFD has been allowed to operate in Thailand by the French Interministerial Committee for International Cooperation and Development (CICID) held on December 11th 2002. This decision has been confirmed by a joint letter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finances dated of December 12th 2003.
Now present in Thailand since 2004, the Agence Française de Développement Group finances sustainable development projects, which contributions have been recognized when AFD and TICA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed the Establishment Agreement on February 18th, 2006.
The Group focuses on two axes in Thailand:

The AFD Group isn't a commercial bank and can't support directly an important number of projects. Therefore AFD collaborates with thai banks and municipalities which have good knowledge about the local needs and economic agents.
